Actress Daveigh Chase, widely recognized for voicing Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and portraying the haunting Samara Morgan in The Ring, has reportedly passed away at the age of 35.
According to reports, Chase died on Tuesday after suffering serious health complications linked to meningitis and sepsis. Her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, shared that she had been battling meningitis as well as a bloodstream infection that eventually led to septic complications. Despite medical treatment, her condition worsened, resulting in multiple organ failure.
Chase had recently been receiving care at a hospital in Los Angeles. Born on July 29, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada, she rose to fame at a remarkably young age and became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable child performers.
Her breakthrough came in 2002 when she voiced the spirited and lovable Lilo in Disney’s animated hit Lilo & Stitch. The role earned her widespread recognition and introduced her to audiences around the world. That same year, she delivered another unforgettable performance as Samara Morgan, the terrifying young girl at the center of the horror blockbuster The Ring. Her portrayal was so impactful that she received the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.
Beyond those iconic roles, Chase built an impressive career in film and television. She provided the English voice for Chihiro in the acclaimed animated film Spirited Away and appeared in notable productions such as Donnie Darko and HBO’s Big Love.
