An extensive search for a missing Australian magician has ended in tragedy after authorities confirmed that 26-year-old Daniel Hidden was found dead following an 11-day search through rugged national park terrain.

Daniel Hidden set off from his home in the early hours of June 14, driving his silver Hyundai while towing a caravan toward the Springbrook region in Queensland.

According to his family, Springbrook was one of Daniel’s favorite places to visit, and he had returned there many times over the years.
His brother, Ilya Jamshidi, explained that the location held deep personal meaning for Daniel, who even had the GPS coordinates of one of his favorite spots tattooed on his fingers.

When Daniel failed to make contact, his loved ones initially believed he was simply enjoying another solo adventure.
Camping and hiking alone were nothing unusual for him.

Police later discovered Daniel’s vehicle, mobile phone, and several personal belongings near Gorge Falls and Cougal Cascades, popular destinations surrounded by steep, heavily forested bushland.
Despite locating his campsite and possessions, there was no sign of Daniel himself.
His brother said that leaving without his phone and remaining completely out of contact was highly unusual, despite his love of spending time in nature.
An Experienced Adventurer
Friends and relatives described Daniel as someone who actively sought out challenging environments rather than well-traveled paths.
According to his brother, he enjoyed exploring isolated areas and often preferred difficult terrain over marked hiking trails.
“He didn’t like sticking to established tracks,” Jamshidi explained, adding that Daniel was naturally drawn toward places that felt remote and adventurous.
Because of his extensive outdoor experience, the family initially believed he had the skills to survive in the wilderness.
Even after a week without contact, they continued hoping he would be found alive.

As concerns grew, authorities launched an increasingly complex search across Mount Cougal National Park and the surrounding Springbrook wilderness.
More than 100 personnel took part in the effort, including officers from Queensland Police, State Emergency Service volunteers, Queensland Fire Department crews, Rural Fire Service teams, drone operators, Polair aircraft, and later members of the Australian Defence Force.
Search teams worked through dense rainforest, steep valleys, waterfalls, and difficult terrain in an effort to locate the missing camper.
Officials noted that the area’s numerous freshwater sources offered hope that Daniel could still be alive despite the challenging conditions.

Throughout the search, Daniel’s mother, Faranak, remained convinced her son could still be rescued.
In emotional public appeals, she described him as exceptionally strong and resourceful, urging search teams to continue looking.

Her optimism reflected the determination shared by family members and volunteers who refused to give up hope during the nearly two-week operation.
Search Ends in Heartbreak

Authorities confirmed that Daniel Hidden’s body was discovered around 11 a.m. inside Mount Cougal National Park, bringing the search to a devastating conclusion.
Police have stated that his death is not being treated as suspicious, and investigators will prepare a report for the Coroner while inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death continue.
