Although Barron Trump has spent much of his life away from the public spotlight, a newly reported detail about his relationship with his father has sparked fresh interest.
According to a forthcoming book, President Donald Trump has a surprisingly affectionate nickname for his youngest son—a revelation that has caught many people off guard.
Barron Trump Keeps a Low Profile
Now 20 years old, Barron Trump is pursuing his studies at the Stern School of Business at New York University’s Washington campus. Unlike many members of the Trump family, he has largely stayed out of public view, making only occasional appearances alongside his parents.
Throughout Donald Trump’s presidency and political campaigns, Barron remained one of the family’s most private figures. As a result, relatively little is known about his personal life or his relationship with either of his parents.
A Father-Son Relationship Mostly Kept Private
Donald Trump has occasionally spoken about his youngest son over the years, often highlighting Barron’s impressive height, intelligence, and interest in sports.
During his presidential campaign, Trump also credited Barron with helping him better understand younger voters.
Speaking to supporters after the election, Trump praised his son’s instincts when it came to reaching Generation Z.
He explained that Barron encouraged him to appear on popular podcasts and online platforms that resonated with younger audiences, including interviews with influential internet personalities. Trump later credited those appearances with helping him connect with a new generation of voters.
Melania Once Revealed Her Own Nickname
While the Trump family rarely discusses private life publicly, Melania Trump previously shared that she had a special nickname for Barron during his childhood.
In an earlier interview, she said she often called him “Little Donald,” describing him as an independent, intelligent, and determined young man who always knew what he wanted.
Donald Trump has also reportedly used different nicknames over the years.
According to past accounts, he referred to Barron as “little boy” when he was younger.
A New Book Reveals Another Nickname
Now, a forthcoming book by New York Times journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan claims the president has adopted a different nickname for his son.
In Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, the authors report that Trump affectionately calls Barron “Honey.”
According to the book, the nickname surfaced during a phone conversation after Barron learned of the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk.
The authors write that Barron immediately contacted his father, apparently concerned by the news. Trump is said to have reassured him by saying, “Calm down, honey, calm down.”
The reported exchange has attracted attention because the nickname differs from the more formal public image many associate with the president.
Public Reaction
Although the Trump family has long maintained a high public profile, personal moments between Donald Trump and Barron are rarely seen.
For that reason, reports describing their private conversations often generate significant public interest.
The alleged nickname has prompted discussion online, with many observers describing it as unexpectedly warm and affectionate, while others have noted that it offers a rare glimpse into the family’s private dynamic.
Whether or not Barron chooses a more public role in the future remains to be seen. For now, he continues to focus on his education while largely avoiding the constant media attention that has surrounded much of his family for decades.
